Mushrif Park

One of my best kept secrets is Mushrif Park.

Drive towards Mirdif, and follow the signs towards this park: you will easily find your way.

Find yourself amongst the best kept desert wonderland of all: pay a measly sum of Dhs. 10 to get in, and you will get your fils worth.

Enter, and you transcend into a parkland of green grass and desert: take your trainers along, for you descend into a selection of international mini-houses: amongst my favourite were the Japanese and Indonesian. A mini-zoo awaits animal lovers too.

The aroma of your barbeque is memorable when the sun sets. Take some photos, and ascend to the exit of the park, appreciating the desert sunset beyond the Dubai landscape.

Pardone moi - 10 bucks? Wasn't it like 2dhs back in the day? Am I right or am I right?

i*maginate said...

I think it's about 10 bucks, homeboy!

I know, I know! Shucks, times have changed in the times of the dunes.

Anonymous said...

is it good for making out?

i*maginate said...

LOL I luv anon visitors!

Why not ask @ the entrance ;-)

rosh said...

hahahha @ "homeboy" and the anon canon ball comment - man I love your blog & style :)

I always want to go there but no one ever want to go cos it's too far. I used to go all the time when I was a kid and I remember it was magical, especially the international houses!

I wish I would get such interesting/random comments on my blog! :P

i*maginate said...

*rosh, I luv myself too. Cheers m'dears for the luvly comment ;-)

My ego can always do with a huge boost hehe

*moviemania, I luv Mushrif Park. Went on many a school-trip when I was younger. From recent visits, I discovered I'm a plane-spotter...most flight paths take the route over Mushrif Park and it's so "romantic" to see the planes come in over the park at sunset...time almost seems to stand still while you watch the planes go past, and you're stationary, admiring the local desert.

As for this anon passer-by, seems he (not likely she) has an interesting obsession with the people & cake blog.

i*maginate said...

*moviemania, know what you mean...it takes a lot of persuading for anyone to come along with me to this desert beauty!

*rosh, now I recall any entrance fee back in the day was usually 2 bucks, and I guess Mushrif Park must have also charged the same amount.

It seems so much smaller now that I've grown older, but if you go there on a Friday, the place is jam-packed, and of course, the Dhs. 10 fee is paid by all entering cars...10 bucks is appropriate these days, innit.

I believe Global Village hiked up their Dhs. 3 fee from last year to Dhs. 5 this year per entrant.

I know some people complain about entrance fees but under Dhs. 10 for any entertainment facility should be acceptable in current times...

Hey! That looks nice. They don't have parks in Saudi but they do have nice 5 star hotels where women are allowed to stay alone... see you soon ;)

ghoweljlsfqwef said...

P.S. Make sure you are well rested, I'm gonna be keeping you up all night ;)

lol Rosh is back.. heheh Rosh wallah ur cute, but this is 2008 not 1996 :P

damn sharjawis, always looking at the history books for today's news :P :P :P

still, with stupid inflation, 10 bucks is nuffing, no?

btw, mishrif is lovely. we used to go there as kids and hide in the themed houses and run our bikes on the train "track"!

rosh, 10dhs, and 3 words for ya;

In, Flay, SHUN

*dottsfun, I not entertain the guests!!!! what u r saying?!!?!

*buj, you're still a kid: stop pretending. I know everytime you come back to Dubai you hit Mushrif Park with your bike: I saw you the other day, throwing frisbees towards my car, then apologising!

FUNNY coz I just posted the 3 comments above at the same time, and the last two mention In-The-Flation...

haha

In-the-Flation GOOD & NOT good

Anyway who's gonna come with me to Mushrif Park, I'll pay the ten bucks.

Innit strange, the beeples on this bost all Arab blokeys!

Can u all come with me... ;-) loool

BuJ said...

hey imaginate.. arabs are the best as you should know by now.. we are the best in both positive and negative things.. as you should know as well :-)

btw, if you include a return business class fare on EK, then I'd be there at Mishrif Park in no time, and I'll even pay the inflated 10 dhs charge myself and any of your buddies.

and yes, i confirm that i am a kid, but remember that kid with the bike that apologised. i am afraid i'm the one that came later, but neglected to apologise :P

see above about arabs, haha

CG said...

if you are going without the fellas then i will accompany you. Hope Buj does not arrive on his BMX...

BuJ said...

technical question: is a kid a fella?

i*maginate said...

CG. thanks good for your arrival!

A little girl in the welcome Dubai hood! Forever and always ;-)!

Sah...perhaps 10 bucks ain't much today for a part entrance.....guess, it's just the shwarmahs that sell for 2 bucks(in SHJ - yeaaaa DXBies eat your hearts out - nahahahaha!)

Anyhoooo me thinks it's Al Ain Fun City & Safa Park are perhaps amongst the best parks in the UAE -though my vote goes for Al Jazeera in SHJ - given obvious sentiments, and that it's right around SHJ's buhaira corniche.

Mr BuJ - "Sharjawis" - shoo hada?, am hurt wallah :)

i* - name the place & time, I shall ride in my mightly BMX, gear and all ha! :)

CG said...

BUJ. YES. so you are not invited.

i*maginate said...

below j: (booj) yes. the best. hmm.

but about the kid who apologised for whacking frisbees into my car, sure you were the responsible type, tucked away in the greek or japanese house, chewing on munchies and plane-spotting from a safe distance. Not like you were avoiding rosh or anything, because he was playing hide n seek in this vast Dubai area!

ok, so which buddies you willing to contribute the Dhs. 10 to...haney, tom. shick, faary or tickwipe? They come at a cost you know. I think a fiver each should suffice. But don't worry, it's me who would reap the pene-fits ;-) loooooooool

*cg I didn't intend to go without the dudes, but booj has just offered a payment for the opposite sexathon to tag along (why, oh why?!)

And so, I will be asking 5/6 friends (better be gals) to cam along...

I can guess the kind of conversation BOOJ likes in real life. ;-)

i*maginate said...

Ya-hayyyyyy!!! Al Jazeera, love it. If any of the management is reading this, please save me a spot on the big wheel and .. front place please on the water ride!!!

It's the only place in the UAE (apart from Al Ain) that the grass really smells green, and fresh.

I wanna be there night and day

(guess I can't remember which song those lyrics came from)

ok rosh you come on a plane to sharjah, better for you coz the message is still the same:

SMILE YOU ARE IN SHARJAH

BuJ said...

First of all, the currency of the United Arab Emirates is Dirhams not Bucks. Such Americanism is rife and we should resist it.

Secondly, the proper way in Arabic to refer to someone from Sharjah is Sharjawi which literally translates to (from sharjah) or (of sharjah). Nothing derogatory about this.

CG.. glad you surfaced.. i notice in general you surface when there is a "No" to be said, or something to fuss about.

I*.. I assume you have a substantial grasp of that particlar romance language to know what @pene-fits@ means... I don't think I should say any more on this word!

You keep mentioning the 10 DHS, but no mention of the business class air-ticket.. sho sayer?

rosh said...

"First of all, the currency of the United Arab Emirates is Dirhams not Bucks"

Honeybums - American monies is the dollar. I assume, "bucks" is a common phrase eh?

As for "Sharjawi" - tonsa shukrans for pointing that out. Quite honestly, I was ignorant, and assumed, you summed up Sharjah & Wahabi (given obvious sentiments in & about SHJ)- and came up with Sharjawi, sorry about that :)

signed
a proud sharjawi

rosh said...

"It's the only place in the UAE (apart from Al Ain) that the grass really smells green, and fresh."

True that :) Quite honestly, Al Ain has better grass - yes? plus it's is billed as the Garden City of the UAE.

Re: Jazeera, man, I've got a shipload of memoirs at Al Jazeera. Back in the day, it was THE place to be (besides Al Ain Fun City, ofcourse).

I was about 3 when mom took the twin, cousins & I to Al Jazeera for our first visit. We had tonsa fun in all those rides, the food stalls, neat clean grass/parks - seems like an era gone by.

Safa Park was sort of distant, 'cause it was quite "far" away. Visiting safa park was like a road trip or something...

BuJ said...

you're welcome ya Rosh.. i'm surprised u didn't pick this up yet.. when you add "i" at the end of a word in arabic it usually means "from, or of"

sharjawi = of sharjah/from sharjah
wahhabi = of the wahhabi sect
ahlawi = supporter of al ahli club
emirati = from the emirates
hindi = from india
masri = from masr/egypt
engleeezi = from england

etc...

it only works for words that end with a consonant..

so dubai doesn't become dubaiiiiiii

rosh said...

BuJ - thanks for that. Quite honestly, I didn't know adding an "i" sums up to a native/resident/clan etc. Bro - I've learned more Arabic & grammar from you, than my 25 years in the UAE ha! :) I look forward to more -shukrans.

i*maginate said...

*buj, yes, I am an expert on romance languages, & I know what pene-fits means. I just misspelt it to mean "benefits"...

As for your business class ticket: the 10 bucks was only part of the mayhem comments on the post. Take the ticket as complimentary. Your flight-path will be across Mushrif Park, of course; rosh & I will be binocularing your descent into Dubai Airport! Can we have some VIP passes to welcome you...I don't mind indulging in some Gahwa upon your return. Upon that condition, rosh & I will deposit you back to Mirdif in a blinged up Hummer... ;-)

i*maginate said...

so *buj, ya trying to be sexistiya?

Scuse me...I am then AINAWIYA!!!

Yee-hah ;-)

*rosh, safa is still kind of out of the way, whether in sharjah or dbay!

:-)

hmm! lol

jazeera...haven't been there in 20 something years. Hope the water-rides are still working - the atmosphere still seems great when passing-by! I gotta drag somebody to go down there with me!

And oh...the neighbouring fish-market! Not to be missed.

BuJ said...

Ok my student of Arabic.. can you send me a forwarding address for my invoice to be sent to to cover for Arabic tuition online ?

hehe

Arabic fundementals are very basic.. like the "i" to denote belonging to.. etc

Glad you're finding it useful Rosh.. wonder if I*maginate is reaping similar penefits?

i*maginate said...

i*maginate is always into benefits. Can you please not misspell it "penefits", it starts with a P not B

Can you send a bibsi my way
Ana AINAWIIIya

Told you!

& I can cover the invoice...either I can pay the 10 dirhams to get into Mushrif Park (which is meant to be the post topic) or I can give you a 1988 Land Croozer in exchange, with a modified engine. It's white, of course, with superrims, and got 2 TANKS!!!

rosh said...

"......1988 Land Croozer in exchange, with a modified engine. It's white, of course, with superrims, and got 2 TANKS!!!"

haahahahahaahaa! classic - that's so classic hahahaha!

BuJ - you cannot refuse this, it's too precious. i* - if BuJ does not want it, I shall have it, with Bleasures :)

ghoweljlsfqwef said...

Huh? I meant I'll keep you up all night as in me and you fuck all night long. Where did the guests come in from?

i*maginate said...

*rosh, I was always aware of your good taste. The whole idea was of 3 of us joining in on the ride, with a Ms. CG steering.

If she might be busy in the kitchen with HAREES, she is welcome to bring along a few servings for the 4 of us. --- Dotsson is down under, and with his habits, might not make it up north.

i*maginate said...

*dotssfun, would you mind with the lingo...I thought you southerners are keen on hospitality. We got a load of Khaleejis here with the intent to go on a legitimate camping trip. Are you gonna be serving the gahwa, or what.

BuJ said...

Hmmm not sure what's happening here with a certain class of comments.

btw, I* if you're 3eynawiya, then how come ur so attached to mushrif park that's in dubai? but i like the idea of the twin-tanked kroozer much more than a limp hummer.

CG said...

Lol@all of you.

I will drive in a kroozer with I* up front. Buj & Rosh can be in the rear (for kiddies).

dotsson can be tied to a roof rack.

everyone else can come by taxi.

No Harees i* but I may be able to rustle up some tarts.

rashid said...

am I invited Princess?

Please. I promise to be good.

i*maginate said...

*buj, I'm ainawiya, ok? My croozer ran out of bitrols and I ended up in Dbay.

Think purple, & you'll get the answer ;-)

*cg, *big smiley* - do you think I can scoff on harees in the front seat (I'll try making it myself) while rosh & buj are strapped to the kiddies seats playing gameboy or however they like to entertain themselves on the weekend?

LOOL what torcher to expect our guests to arrive by taxi!

As for dotssfun I'm sure we can find a single-seater sofa to erect to the top of the croozer on which he can sit on merrily for the duration of the trip.

*rashid, sure you can come. With your physique, I'm sure you can tow our croozer all the way to Mushrif Park so me and cg are free to scoff our tarts/harees. What dya say?

rashid said...

imagine*, i am ready to tow you as far as you need it.

give me a sign. i am ready

Dubai Jazz said...

I can push you on a swing (back and froth…. back and fourth)..
That should be fun, for you at least…

i*maginate said...

dubai jazz, 'froth' and 'fourth'? I prefer forth if you can offer that service ;-)

btw I do try and visit your blog occasionally but my comp always freezes when I do. Have no idea why - it didn't happen befroth or befourth...

Dubai Jazz said...

Don’t worry dear, 'back n' forth' is the exact kind of service that I pride myself on…

Who needs to visit my silly blog? Let's go to the park !

I went to Mushrif Park and here is some true info. It cost me 10 dirhams and 50 cents to get there by cab from Mirdif Uptown shops. I paid 3 dirhams to get in. I did not have to pay for my daughter 5 years. We had a blast! First we played in 3 different playgrounds in the play area. Then we stopped and tossed pennies in the pretty water fountain making wishes. Then she went on the flying camel ride cost only 2 dirhams, and we both went on the giant slide cost 2 dirhams per ticket and one ticket to ride, very cheap indeed. After that we could of eaten at the burger cafe which was open but chose to ate lunch later, it was a fun few hours and will be back again, we went today March 10,2009.
Now to get in by car may cost more but remember 10 dirhams is only
$3.65 Amercian money to have a great time. I give this park 5 stars.
