Geographical cures

Whoever said there is no such thing as a geographical cure is not entirely correct.

What were holidays made for, then? I took off after a long time, returning to find my mind cleansed and clean, empty of all negativity, ready to live days complete with healthy food and long workouts.

If I can only keep up this momentum, and avoid anything that distracts me from my goals. That means keeping my head up high and living my dream, each day, as it comes.

Here's hoping to that indeed.

But lets see how long it take before your back to your cynic, negative, bitchy self.

The absurdity of your comment!

Ouch, anonymous....

Gotta love Anonymous comments. At least they give you more reason to smile.

Do hope you're still wonderful.

nothing to do with geography. its the fact that you leave DUBAI and the stress that accompanies it. thats the cure :0

I'm with you on this one. My two weeks (too short) back in UK are still sending me pleasant ripples after two weeks back here.

Time away helps not only on the "after-side" but on the "before-side" too. When we first moved to Abu Dhabi (from a small town in US) and I was deep in culture shock, what helped the most was an upcoming trip I'd planned to Ireland. I left my husband and 6 children back in AD for a week and was completely rejuvenated by the change in atmosphere. When I returned (to AD) I was in a much better frame of mind for months and months.
The changes you make can be lasting. If you back-slide, plan another getaway - even somewhere close will do!

You are a gem.

Everywhere is full of stress but I think the thing with Dubai is is that it's quite huge but the way the urban development has been planned, you only stay in certain places, which makes the world quite small, and clausterophobic. Hence the need for getaways. Thank goodness the UAE is very diverse in terms of cities being quite different for a weekend visit :)

I still believe there's no such thing as a geographical cure (as I've been taught) but there must be some truth in the fact travelling does help one "find oneself". It holds true in my experience but not in my teaching. Time to pack the bags again!

Thank you for your visit to my blog, and for your wonderful insight.

If time were on my side, I'd be in Machu Pichu right now. But as said above, UAE luckily offers many different cultures emirate-to-emirate. And I love getaways to each of them. So much nature too.
