Yes Ma'am

30 minutes to get my car on to the main road when it should take 5

the occasional cement truck at a traffic light, looking as if it's going to tip over and shape me into a fancy conrete slab

Etisalat coverage down, can't call to say I'm gonna be late for a meeting...

entering a petrol station where 5 people shout "Hi Ma'am!" and I wanna scream "Shut up!"

later...making a call and being put on hold for 10mins

getting calls asking for a meeting in 15 mins

attempting to call an 'office' which does not pick up calls

visiting this office and not being able to find parking

finding parking and the machine doesn't work

being 45 minutes late for a meeting because there's no parking

being told by a stupid security guard who comes knocking on my window he's going to call the "POLIS" if I park there....if I wasn't late I would have called the POLIS myself to report him

then...

no electricity in my building....I call the "luxury development" hotline and I get a "Yes Ma'am" spiel all over again. "Why is there no electricity?" '"It's an annual (?) check-up" "But there was no notice of this. Why?" "Ma'am we have a list here to inform people if they call that yes there is no electricity for 3 hours." (Me thinking what??!) "Can I speak to a supervisor" ===

.....(Fill in the blanks...)....

3 hours - no electricity, nothing to do ...

2 hours later...electricity returns. Should I be happy? No. 3 hours should mean 3 hours.

Doing a massive shop and returning to "luxury development" with no porter to assist

Security mostly incompetent

Water leak in my corridor

DVD man enters "private" building and rings my bell on a Friday morning...

Door-to-door salesman from Orbit pops round... (isn't door-to-door a crime here?)

Hmmm....

Forgot to buy something, and called the local (well-known) supermarket to deliver."Thanks - and what's your name?" "X" "Are you sure you will deliver this time?" "Yes Ma'am"

Hours later...

No delivery.

Consumer protection? Where.

Customer care? Where.

Does anybody care?

Dubai cares - Yes Ma'am.

Dubai Cares - now that's funny! At least you were called 'ma'am'. I've been in places with my husband (i.e. restaurant) in full warpaint, jewellery & talons & still been called 'sir' by the waiter!

LOL Jane...

yes BOSS :P

ColOman - I recall a comment you made (or was it a post) saying why you left Dubai. If it wasn't for internet forums, nobody would know what the majority are thinking - and at this time, things are not looking good, unfortunately.

Mars - I am a cute goat. LOL!

Seabee - I didn't mention my landlord, did I?

well, when someone else used to say these things about dubai, you were the first to say " why don't you leave if you don't like it"

Care to apply it now in yur real life since in real life you are not a princess and just an expat? And do consider that all of your cribs are mostly superficial in nature compared to what others go through in dubai. oh yeah, they are only labour class, right?
