Golden dreams
There's just one thing or two, before I forget them, which I should remind myself of before stepping onto hot shores again. That is, that normal people exist, without pretences, and are available to confide in... Yes, there are people in the world you can talk to, who won't batter an eyelid as to what label you're wearing; which shop you frequent (blah); which 'thing you do'.
...
You can wear whatever you want in the right company; speak your own mind; breathe your own breath. One can enjoy pleasant conversation in the midst of cheery, upbeat personas, who drift, it seems, with not a care in the world. No matter how old, how young, you can INTERACT. What freedom it is to meet people who are in tune with what they want, who live without the fear of being beaten down with the dreams they believe in.
Enough with the downturn, here's to connecting with the 'chin-up' people who make this world go around.

So, have you brought that upbeat attitude back home to Dubai yet?
Absolutely and definitely!
I've read loads of books in the meantime on how to keep cheery and to 'live in the moment' - that's really helped keep me positive and get through the Dubai day...it does take a lot of effort though, but I feel better than ever before!
Thanks :)
Perhaps there are, but perhaps there aren't.
Some people may see me as an upbeat person because when I'm around people I don't know I act extra-cheerful, and I'm good at the act too.
But it's just an act.
Yes there are.
On a side note, there's a very depressive/melancholic tone in every Dubai blog I've read. In general that is, and long before the big market collapse. I wonder is it the city? or am I just too fond of such blogs?
Enjoy the sun and the beach. There are many, many people who would enjoy a conversation for the sake of one. And in every place I've been to, they outnumber everybody else... you just need to say hello ;).
Abs, interesting insight. What I read is that the act is all it takes...it's better than no act, isn't it?! You 'trick' your subconcsious into believing it's real, that is, if you want it to become real.
Yazan, how are you doing? Yes, you are totally right. I was also thinking about this the other day. Dubai has the tendency to suck the soul out of people - and if there were more soul there would be more smiles?!
It all just depends on the experiences you create for yourself, really...and so far so good...I'm still on a holiday high :P
Your last few posts sound like a hangover. I read on to realize you were gone for a holiday!
How are Rosh and that idiot doing - dang I forgot his name? Nick? I cant even remember his blog URL!
I'd love to see what he is up to!
al rep heya ... rosh and idiot do not clang in one sentence heya ! LOL !
nick is quiet...
so are you :)
how's you?
no hangover, on a permanent happiness quang :) btw there happens to be no such word as 'quang' what a shame!
Does anyone else have any such resonance...
ciao ciao
I am not quiet; I got married :P
Fortunately, everything fell in place and parents came around after all. Alhamdolillah, but things work out at the end of the day.
Hope things are good at your end!
Happy to hear Al :) And nice to hear from you again. Please, take a moment or two and taunt Nicky. I miss how you'd rinse him thorough in every debate :)
