I bit a shark!

Shopping in the hypermarkets of Dubai, I discovered "shark" amongst the fresh fish section. I do love trying out new fish - mind you, I did select other fish I've never heard of.

Back to shark - my worst enemy, and the reason I don't venture out to fresh waters in body. This evening, I had the chance to eat it: role reversal.

It tastes really good. If you're used to white fish, and you like seafood overall and have never tasted shark, get it: it doesn't bite if baked.

Alexander and HMHB I challenge you to produce a better shark recipe than this:

1)Get shark, get pyrex, throw teaspoons of water into pyrex, put into oven 180 celcius.

2)Boil any veg you like

3)Veg should be crispy so after 3 mins take off the boil and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste

4)Fish shark out of the oven, drain veggies, sprinkle seasoning if desired.

5)Serve on plate.

6)(Chopped mint and parsley on top of the shark, if you like)

There you go, easy peasy.

Is there something you did not tell us.
(hehehheheh)
Muslims can ver much too eat shark, otherwise they would not be so openly available.
Its the shiaa community that wont fish without scales.
I have not tried shark, I am intimidated by the whole JAWS thing.
Besides I do much prefer fresh water river fish over salt water.
What was really yummy was deep fried crispy crunchy sardines. Eyes and all.

Try out 'Shark Ambot tik' Its an Indian dish.. sure to get to racing around in pain. Extremely spicy stuff. I had it an an indian restaurant in Dubai. Was an unforgetable experience!!!

*Rosh - seafood, I find, is more fresh and avail (how cliche does that sound) in the UAE compared to your parts (no pun intended!) Gosh help me with my language!

*kaya the whole Jaws thing makes my affair with shark a one-stop occasion: I can't fathom a second grill with this thing.

Fresh trout is good...fresh seafood is good when caught..

Sardines: I only know the tinned variety.

Not all of us are saints in the kitchen ;-)

*dubai photo story - heya again! which place? share the restaurant name in your comments! If it's not in Karama (abysmal parking situation) I am going this weekend!

Talking about fish, I recommend chilled Scandinavian fish. It's available and totally delicious on German Rye bread.

If you enjoyed shark, think about giving smoked marlin a try - it's divine :-)

Hiya - never heard of marlin but I'd love to give it a go - guess I should try Spinneys or the Organic Shop to find it...thanks for the recommendation, jayne!

Hope you all know that the shark population has declined up to 90% in certain areas and that this shark population colaspes is causing serious problems to the ocean ecosystem. Maybe you might want to think about this next time you sprinkle your seasoning on top of your baked pice of shark....
