Eatsalad wobbles to the rescue

So whadya know. I've been without a mobile for ages, and finally got round to replacing my SIM card which had to be done miles and miles away as per Eatsalad's newest customer-friendly procedures.

How did I cope without a mobile? Well, thanks: very well indeed. I felt free as a bird, and most importantly, loved not being on the receiving end of mundane and pointless phonecalls for the best part of 3 weeks. Now that's freedom.

My re-entry into the world of telecoms was celebrated with a call from no other than the customer service man from Eatsalad who sold me the sim. He called no later than 11.30pm just to ask if everything was ok. Now that's customer service; or is it?

Nice telephone number he had: 050 ABBBBBC. Only one thing, though: he didn't look like he usually eats-salad.

LOL funny story with the flat flob... hehehe.. couldn't u get him to exchange his for yours? especially given how many guys would call your sim, and how many different guys would call his?

Wow, you have a pet name for Etisalat, too? You and SD have something in common :P

Yes, Etisalat is trying very hard to rebrand itself - they have Spencer Johnson as consultants to help them with this change management!

If you were working for Etisalat though, you would know that inside things are still BAD. But its good to see some positive feedback!

i* - Etisalat is still better, than some lunatics I've got to deal with here in US. For instance, why does a communication company rely on an abusive automated interactive phone system to deal with customer calls. It is very time consuming & quite irritating. When you do get through the screening process, they are always experiencing "high" volumes of calls and it will be a while. This happens no matter what time you call. The recorded response is to go on-line. What if I don't have Internet access? Hey, AT&T, hire more people!!!!

And in the "blessed" event you do get thru - most likely you shall be "greeted" with a least interested - "am here just for my paycheck - have multiple jobs - no career plan" - individual, whose hello, itself, shall put you off.

*sigh*

There - I've vented away my telecom issues :)

Not just that, US telecomms have horrible plan systems. International calls are sh*t expensive. Also so many of my calls get dropped with T-mobile and signal sucks sometimes in urban areas where it shouldn't. I'd take Etisalat or even du any day.

haha, thats pretty funny... :p

i would love to be without a cellphone, its too much of a fuss, but you just cant nowadays... imagine, you can never run away from anything, or anyone, you can never ever really be alone, or run away and hide...

i know one guy who doesnt own one... and doesnt want one... one day we bought him one as a gift and he ended up breaking it two days later...

i liked the "muhahahaa.." bit. I had to read your comment twice before I did the "muhahahaa.." myself! Really, I didn't get it at first! If only I had the thinking cap on while going through this major life dilemma...hehhee. But on second thoughts, not to sound offensive, no point in doing the "switch" if he doesn't eat-salad, honey. Chances are, neither of his friends eat-salad either. No offence to anyone, it's probably a psychological fact: we hang out with our own kind. Thanks for the suggestion though!

*al-republican, haha. If SD & I have something in common, it's certainly not that I receive trashy comments dissing everything left, right & centre.

Hmmmmmm I don't need to *work* for Etisalat to know how the company runs: it's quite obvious for anyone who has the slightest bit of managerial/corporate experience.

Nevermind. A 10% improvement wouldn't go amiss if you ask me!

Positive feedback? Yeah. Shame the customer reps can't log on complaints, to start with.

*rosh, I forgot about those automated systems - they are sooo annoying! Speaking to a computer is sooo sad! Thanks for the rant, it makes me feel 1mil% better if there is any such number ;-)

*moviemania hehehe ok ok, I should be happy with the substandard service I get from etisalat. It makes me wonder, what makes a consumer more satisfied, customer service and company procedures, or product satisfaction itself? Hmm!

*ammaro.com, this was a personal mobile, so it was great to be without one for a while. Really, I didn't have the time to leg it all the way to the emirate I bought the SIM from, but I did when I got the time. The best thing about losing a mobile is that whoever wants to call you still has your number: and that's what makes your new phonelist more worthwhile.

I like that last point, very true!
