A rant & a rave

A rant and a rave: no better time for it. While those of us are on holiday, the rest are out to play.

This day was a little bit more exciting than others. Firstly, I had no make-up on. Luckily for the huge sunglasses, no one was able to recognise me.

Next thing, a taxi driver bashes into me. Why? I don't know why. Is it because they're a taxi driver?

Yes. I've driven myself for miles on end, and I tell you, being in the driving seat is not always enjoyable, even if you love driving.

But when someone crashes into you, you report them. And when they're a taxi driver, here's the first question: "Their fault or yours?" This is a rhetorical question.

We drive to the station, and taxi driver disappears. Taxi driver has done a "runner", and I'm told this is common. It's not my fault, and I get a report. Car gets locked up for repairs for a few days.

On the way home, I accept accidents happen. I'm young, but I feel my blood pressure's not good. I feel compassion for the labourers waiting for their bus while I rush home to get some food, to fuel my body that's run out of sugar.

All day, we've been waiting for that moron to deliver what he promised. Our clients are waiting. He's made us wait, and he's made us late. I've had a car accident and he has no sympathy. Is it a company guideline he can't ask if I'm OK? We accept the goods, though not delivered as promised. What do we do? Write a letter? Think things will change?

Can we boil things down to nationality, or that people just don't respect the way things should be done?

Sorry to hear about the accident I*.. Hope you are well and not much damage to the car.

Re: nationality, perhaps yes - but there is a very thin line between generalization and speaking "generally" i.e. there are good apples in every basket, just that, some baskets have many more bad apples.

Dear desperate Princess,

without any doubt, to say „fucked up” to a person, even if you don’t know her personally is to be judged as insult.
It’s sufficient by law to be ascertainable.
There is no justification by the right to free speech.
So you have to delete this note immediately and you are requested to do so.
Otherwise you have to face legal action.

See you later

Hi rosh, I'm trying extra hard to drive carefully these days but I just drive too much I guess, and my car has become a magnet for accidents! I'm very much OK, thank you, and it was really not much damage.

Re: your comment, as George Orwell said: "Some are more equal than others" hehehe

Yes, there is a very fine line between generalising and speaking generally, as you say.

The things is, in my opinion, is that many nationalities fit "certain traits", so would this be construed as racism, a generalisation, or unfair bias? It's a tough cookie, in this day and age.

The world is becoming so "inter-connected" with the advent of technology, that "ways of thinking" are certainly becoming less identifiable with "nationalities".

A taxi driver and a woman (that, too, without makeup!)... the accident HAD to happen :P

These days we have female taxi drivers! That's 2 bad things in one go hehe.

Help us Ya Allah! :)

Defensive driving exercises the neck muscles.

Be safe I*

Yeah, thanks al republican, knew I could count on you for some ego-boosting ;)

Have you ever tried being a woman? It's more difficult than being a man, even moreso when one has a little brain tucked into the sidelines!

Female taxi drivers: if I had the fortune of hailing a female-driven taxi, I'd hope they'd have double seat-belts. That's the age of feminism for you.;)

Help me too, God, when getting into a male-driven taxi who has the tendency of bumping and bashing into females ;)

*Guy, aren't you living in the same world as i*, where most men look at just anything, including lamposts?

*buj, thanks for the sentiments.

A male driver, when I explained my sorrowful predicament, said "women are careful drivers". My accident, though just a few scratches, in his eyes, was not an "accident". Apparently I'm not the kind "to reverse into a truck". ;)

And man, those neck muscles get quite tense, regardless of any dose of defensive driving, depending on where exactly I am in this neck of the woods!
