Party-time?

I went to a party tonight that I really didn't want to go to. Not because it was going to be full of old people (not that that's something I'm not used to) but I guess with age, I'm finding less time to find time to go to these parties - not that I don't like parties, but the people that go here are not half worth picking my nose for, or paying someone else to, if they'd agree.

So, as the night goes on, half the conversation turns out to how happy we are, what we don't do at work (knowing the conversation is about work in disguise), where we live, and how many kids I don't have.

Everyone knows they're not meant to be talking about work but that's where it ends up: a paid-for party, paid-for entertainment, paid-for F&B, paid-for conversation, when you should be partying.

I get the bit about why you didn't want to go to the party, but missed the party about why you went.

Or was it a case of wishful thinking?

Office party perhaps? Did you have to perform the obligatory schmoozing? Did anyone get wasted and make a fool of themselves? Did anyone hook up in the coat room?

So, so boring hon, I blame the attendees, if all they're bothered about is their job, house, car etc. then tell 'em to fuck off.

Meet genuine people.

They do exist you know.

Party on a work-week-night? How's that work? How'd you deal with the morning-after-being-hungover syndrome?

Darling if I'd been there we'd have had such a giggle.

The place probably looked like a casting evening for "What not to wear"

*cg - why I went, well I don't know, I would rather have gone than not have - it was a party worth not missing when I weighed the pros and cons!

*quixotic - LOL there was no obligatory anything, apart from the forced smiles. It was a business function, not an office party. If everyone had been wasted, there would have been no making fools of oneselves, now would there? ;)

*taunted - lol the only way to say f off was to hang out with the old people, who were so old they couldn't open their mouths anyway -perfect company at a boring party!
I know genuine ppl exist, the challenge is trying to locate them amongst the thorns...

*j-t sullivan hehe you are so observant Wed is a weeknight locally. Morning after, well isn't that the fun of it?

*rosh - I love office parties, they are so ridiculous, and you can get away with being silly in your own company, but not when it's a business function when loads of strangers are together...

*Guy, I'm sure you were there...you must have been the saucy guy in the well-cut suit! Dubai needs some seriously fashionable people. We need a heavy dose of them pretty soon.

Principessa, there's 2 definitions of the 'morning after'.

Uno: Being hung over due to massive intake of cheap booze.

Two: When a chick realizes she's knocked-up, as in preggo!

Which one you're on to?
